Philip Joseph “P.J.” Martin is Vice President of Integrated Planning, Development & Delivery at Xcel Energy where he oversees long term planning across the company’s natural gas and electric systems for the northern states. In this role, he is responsible for aligning investments across generation, transmission, distribution, and gas infrastructure to support reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for customers.
Since joining Xcel Energy in 2015, P.J. has held leadership roles in strategic asset planning, resource planning, corporate development, and integrated planning. His work has helped advance renewable energy and battery storage initiatives while strengthening the company’s analytical and planning capabilities. Today, he focuses on developing integrated, executable system plans, aligning investments across the grid, and preparing for emerging challenges and opportunities, including accelerating load growth, electrification, and data center expansion.
Before joining Xcel Energy, P.J. worked in energy trading and portfolio management at ACES Power Marketing, supporting utilities and energy customers across the country.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Dartmouth College and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from East Carolina University.
