Jacob Morris

Jacob Morris is the Managing Director of New Ventures at Southern Company, where he leads a team that focuses on accelerating value-add innovation through strategic investing, piloting emerging technology solutions, and building collaborative partnerships.

Jacob joined Southern Company in 2019 and, prior to his current role, has served in several different roles across the Southern Company system, including multiple roles on the New Ventures team, the Solutions Strategy Manager at Georgia Power, and the Chief of Staff to Southern’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Prior to joining Southern Company, Jacob began his career as a mechanical engineer with Enercon Services, an engineering consulting firm serving the energy industry. Jacob also worked as an Energy Management Analyst at Yardi Energy, collaborating with large commercial customers to perform energy analyses to support cost savings and sustainability efforts. 

Jacob attended Auburn University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering along with a minor in business. He has also earned an MBA from Emory University.
