Chris Karwick

Christopher Karwick is the Chief Operating Officer at Silicon Valley Power (SVP), where he oversees utility operations, engineering, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives that support the City of Santa Clara's municipally owned electric utility.

Since joining SVP in 2017, Chris has served in several leadership roles, including Division Manager of Generation and Assistant Director for Utility Operations and Customer Development & Project Management. During his tenure, he has led major infrastructure projects, managed critical energy assets, and helped advance initiatives that strengthen reliability, support customer growth, and prepare the electric system for the future.

With more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry, Chris has extensive expertise in power generation, grid operations, substations, transmission and distribution, engineering, and utility management. Before joining SVP, he held leadership positions at Calpine Corporation, one of the nation's largest independent power producers.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the California State University Maritime Academy. He is committed to delivering safe, reliable, and affordable electric service while leading investments that position Silicon Valley Power to meet the evolving energy needs of one of the world's most innovative communities.
