SVP, Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs,Exelon

Valencia McClure is the Senior Vice President of Governmental, Regulatory, and External Affairs for Maryland and District of Columbia at Exelon for the Pepco, BGE and Delmarva utilities. In this role, she oversees the company’s strategic direction and initiatives, regulatory work, energy acquisition, economic development, strategic customer-facing programs, engagement with state, local, and municipal government officials, regulatory bodies, as well as civic and community leaders to advance the company’s mission and strengthen its presence across both states to drive a meaningful, positive impact in its communities. 


Valencia has worked in the Exelon family of companies for over 17 years, including leadership roles in Communications and Government and External Affairs at Exelon Generation, as Vice President, Governmental and External Affairs at BGE, and most recently as Vice President Governmental and External Affairs and President of the Pepco Region.  


Valencia has been active in the broader Baltimore and Maryland communities and the District of Columbia, serving on the boards of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Bowie State University, Susan G. Komen Maryland (Maryland and North Texas) and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She currently serves on the boards of the Washington DC Economic Partnership, the DC Chamber of Commerce, and the Junior Achievement of Greater Washington. 


Valencia served on the DC Mayor Bowser's Taskforce on Chinatown/Gallery Place as an initiative to rebuild downtown DC and was named as a Washington Business Journal Diversity in Business Honoree. Valencia was also named one of Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Women in Corporate America, Baltimore Sun’s Top 25 Women to Watch, a recipient of the President’s Roundtable Corporate Executive Trailblazer Award and acknowledged as an outstanding African American Alumni from the University of Texas at Arlington. Valencia also serves as the executive sponsor for Pepco’s Network of Exelon Women (NEW) Employee Resource Group. 


Valencia holds bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a graduate of Leadership Maryland and Dallas.
